History

At the commencement of your walk you will receive a brochure that outlines the route for the day’s walk and which provides an overview of some historical points of interest and other local features along the way.

ImageFrom the time when the indigenous Gubbi Gubbi language people moved freely about this area and James Cook traveled along the Coast, naming the Glass House Mountains the Glass Houses (with Mountains added later by a mapping draftsman), Caloundra Shire has grown to now having more than  88,000 residents.

Walkers will pass by jetties, monuments and memorials, lighthouses and remnants of a shipwreck – all with historical tales to tell. These, coupled with the beautiful and changing coastline – the headlands, beaches, estuaries and reserves make for an interesting and varied walk.
