Snail Trail

Snail Trail (Option S) 6-7 km (4 to choose S1, S2, S3, S4) – together they make up the length of the walk – therefore you could book and walk one or two of these now, and complete the other two on another occasion if you would eventually like to complete the full stretch. Sunshine Coast Coastal Walks allows 3 hours for you to do each of the snail trail walks. This allows ample time for stops, taking photographs, morning/afternoon tea and a quick dip if you choose – see Weather, History and Local Attractions….. for year round water temperatures (swimming is only recommended at patrolled beaches). If you take the S1 walk on a Sunday morning why not use some of your time en route to browse through the Caloundra Sunday Markets. Option descriptions Option S1 represents the first 6-7 km stretch of the walk starting at the southern end of the walk at Bells Creek alongside Bribie Island estuary and heading north. About 1 km of this walk is backstreet walking; however, the remainder is totally on a pathway by the water. There is a 2 km stretch where walking along the beach alongside tranquil Pumicestone Passage makes a great alternative to the coastal pathway. For those taking the Sunday morning walk, you can also take a little time if you wish to browse the Caloundra Sunday markets. Option S4 represents the last 6-7 km segment, starting at Point Cartwright in the north, walking around the headland and heading south along long stretches of beach. (For those who want to limit – or totally avoid - sand/beach walking, about 4.5 km can be walked on a track beside the beach, with beach views along the full length, with only the remainder on the sand or backstreet.) Option S2 and S3 represent the middle 6-7 km stretches respectively. Option S3 involves some beach (sand) walking and also takes you through a bushland reserve and around Currimundi Lake. S2 takes you around two lovely headlands and involves only a short distance of beach walking (although this could be totally avoided with a small amount of backstreet walking if preferred.)
